For you are a holy people to the LORD your God; the LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples of the earth.
But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.
Those who walk by faith in covenant relationship to God enjoy a special status only God can give. The amazing thing is that this status does not depend on ethnicity, education, cultural background, material wealth, or nationality. It transcends all of that. But it has implications for how we will behave. It involves walking in the light instead of in darkness. In means that we can proclaim the praises of Him who has brought transformation and hope into our lives. And it entails functioning as priests who will intercede for those persons who are around us, and priests who will bring their causes before the throne of our heavenly Father in prayer. It means that we have a citizenship that is "out of this world." It means that the mercy of the merciful Creator has reached to us in our great need.
Best wishes, GH
